Mountain Expeditions in Nepal is one of the prime adventure activities. Nepal Himalaya stretches 800 km from east to west encompassing the world's eight highest peaks that rise above 8,000 m including Mt Everest. When Nepal opened its peaks to climbers in 1949, the Nepalese Himalaya has become a centre of attraction for mountaineering activity. Climbing Himalayas in Nepal has become a dream among the adventure enthusiasts and mountaineers in the world. Thousands of men and women come to Nepal for climbing various peaks and some of them become successful and some sacrifice their lives in the Himalaya. Fully fledged mountaineering expedition is completely different from trekking and lower peak climbing in Nepal, as the expeditions include climbing above 7000m. in which snow is found almost throughout the year and require crampons ropes and other necessary climbing gears under the supervision and guidance of the climbing leader. We encourage the mountaineering beginners to attempt first easier trekking peakssuch as Mera, Island, and others below 6500m in altitude. Climbing lower peaks delivers as training courses for those attempting higher mountains above 8000m/26240 ft. There are three seasons categorized for mountaineering in Nepal. The season begins from April to early June and it is the only season most of expeditions carry on major peaks. The autumn and post monsoon season is considered the best time for mountain expeditions in Nepal. It is bitterly cold at high elevations from November to February, but due to recent development of climbing equipment technology has allowed several expedition teams to accomplish what was thought before to be impossible for winter ascent of aHimalayan peak. Climbing to above 7000m during the monsoon between June and August, is not practical from Nepal, though the north face of mt.Everest (Tibet) can be climbed during August. Climbing expeditions to any other highest mountains in Nepal, in between 7,000 and 8,000m requires long-term planning and must be booked through locally-based government registered trekking and expedition company. We have categorized mountaineering activity into three different parts- peaks above 8000m, below 8000m and trekking peaks.
