Annapurna base camp trek

Trekking to Annapurna Base Camp trek is also known as Annapurna Sanctuary trek (ABC) is a classic trek that takes you into the heart of the Annapurna Himalayas with spectacular views surrounded by enormous glaciers. This trek is relatively shorter when we compare with other treks in the Annapurna region. It can be completed in 12 to 14 days. The trek starts at Nayapul, a small village located at the elevation of (1070m )near the river with a few lodges for travellers. The trail follows the Modi River through dense forest of rhododendron and bamboo. We reach the large rock overhanging, known as Hinku Cave. While trekking, we feel an ever-changing sub-tropical landscape of rice fields, rhododendron and bamboo forests and lowland villages to the glacier basin of Annapurna Sanctuary. We will see steep snow-clad ridges from Mt. Hiunchuli on the left and Mt. Machhapuchhere on the right before entering to the Sanctuary. As we pass through the 'entrance' and enter the Sanctuary, we find ourselves in a huge amphitheatre surrounded by a solid wall of snow-capped peaks, a breathtaking experience. From Machhapuchhare Base Camp (3700 m) to Annapurna Base Camp (4130m) it takes almost 2 hours. Early in the morning just before sunrise on the top of Annapurna ranges you will see how sunrays illuminate gradually and turn white mountain into orange color. From cultural point of view Annapurna Base Camp trek is also very important as you will walk through the several villages of diverse ethnic groups of people such as Gurung, Magar and Brahmins and chettri. During the hike you will experience the diverse culture especially Gurung culture, tradition and lifestyle of western Nepal. Lonely planet Guide has recommended Annapurna base camp trek as one of the best places to travel despite earthquake jolted Nepal on 25 April, 2015. Trekking trail to Annapurna base camp was unaffected by the disaster, including other trekking areas in the annapurna region  The guesthouses and trekking routes are safe for trekkers. Trekking to Annapurna Base Camp is best in Spring (March to May) and Autumn (mid Sept to December ).However, we can organize the trek any time throughout the year as per our clients request.

In Hinduism, Annapurna is "... the universal and timeless kitchen-goddess ... the mother who feeds. Without her there is starvation and a universal fear. Her most popular shrine is located in Kashi, on the banks of the river Ganga."
